Greetings to our VDS Community!
This year and going forward there are some significant changes happening on the desk regarding how certain ticket type topics are being handled. Please familiarize yourself with the changes so that we can focus on the CSD's first priority, which is assisting you with any technical issues you might be having in the game.
If you find yourself in the middle of a written altercation with a player ingame and you contact the CSD in regards to it, you will receive an automated message directing you on how to appropriately use the blocking tools we’ve built in the game.
At least 99% of our player altercations that resulted in tickets would not have escalated to the use of the CSD had the blocking tools been used. For the persons in these altercations, using the blocking tools would have ceased all communications and ultimately ceased the unwanted communications.
Meanwhile each ticket we received required an investigation, resulting in massive loss of valuable development time. Please remember: we are not social workers, we are here to develop an awesome game for you to play.
Of the other 1% of altercation tickets, these fall into other ticket types altogether (doxxing, tier dropping, duplicate accounts), and those will continue to be investigated and addressed.
No longer investigating
Also being given automated CSD responses are a small number of other items which have always ended up being time wasters for us. Many of these ticket items are entirely subjective and are never supported by data after investigation, such as players being killed more than X amount of times or killed too quickly.
Meanwhile in the decade that VDS has been live we have seldom discovered automation in our own sweeps and have never found proof of automation via player report. The superfluous use of the CSD as a means of attempting to verify a suspicion based on opinion or feeling has resulted in our spending more time adding unnecessary measures to the game, which have at times hampered your gameplay, and on numerous occasion forced us to re-evaluate our work—even though the actual proof-in-data never panned out.
On this topic we’d like to remind you that the technology available to gamers now is more advanced than it’s ever been. Touch screen monitors and gaming mice are some specific examples, and this type of hardware technology can’t and shouldn’t be monitored by us. This is a PvP game. If you haven’t by now, or if you’re new, it’s time to embrace death.
While we are not investigating via player report on automation, we always have and will continue to be vigilant in our sweeps for software automation and multiple accounts. We abhor cheating on every front and will work our hardest to ensure you’re battling in a fair environment.
Last and perhaps of important note, we have found that a good portion of our ticket requests are false reports. With the changes to acceptable ticket types, we’ll now be handling false reports differently.
False reports are those which are done solely for the purpose of getting another player suspended or banned. If you are found to make a false report to the CSD—that’s to say, if you make an accepted ticket type report and we spend the time investigating only to find it isn’t true— you will now risk the suspension or banning of your account.
For everyone who has been diligent in the past with regard to utilizing the help desk the way it was intended and kept a respectful tone, you are appreciated more than you know.
